Des thermoplastiques retardateurs de flamme


La NASA a mis au point des matières thermoplastiques retardatrices de flamme.

NASA has demonstrated the interest of polyhydroxyamide (PHA) and polymethyloxyamide (PMeOA) thermoplastics as flame retardants. The objective: to improve the fire-resistance of other, compatible polymers, such as nylons, polyesters, acrylics and polystyrenes and possibly of elastomers. These additives do not degrade the properties of the plastic materials and improve them in some cases.
These specialised synthetic materials are still at the research stage. They are not yet commercially available as bars or sheets.
